HYD Police Launch Mobile App "HAWK EYE" For Women

As part of its initiative to become a citizen-friendly and responsive force, Hyderabad Police on Wednesday launched a mobile phone application"HAWK EYE" to empower members of the public, improve their security.
'Hawk Eye', seeks to turn common people into Citizen Police and involve them into checking crimes, curbing unlawful activities and traffic violations.

Launching `Hawk Eye', Police Commissioner 'M Mahender Reddy' said this app has features on women safety while on travel and a SOS button for accessing help in emergency situations, among others. Citizen Police can also report traffic violations, information on criminal activities, contravention of law on part of personnel in uniform, suggestions for improving policing and also good work done by the force, Reddy said.

"A major area of concern is woman’s safety during travel, especially for working women. Whenever a woman boards a taxi, cab, auto, bus, train or other vehicle, she can just click the photograph or take a videograph of the vehicle before boarding, note down the vehicle’s number, place of boarding and send it online to the police. During the travel, if she faces any problem, the details can be sent to the police,” he said.

Hawk Eye has several features such as woman’s safety while on travel, SOS button for accessing help in emergencies, citizen police to report, traffic violations, happening crimes, criminal information, crime against woman, violations by police, suggestions for improved policing and report good work done by police, register details of servant/worker/tenant with police, enrolment for community policing, access to all contact numbers of city police at one place and status report on information furnished.

App has also a feature to register details of servant, worker and tenant with police. However, no verification will be made by the police. If any one wants to enrol for community policing, one can register by the App. The main duty of police is community-oriented policing services. The contact numbers provides all mobile phone numbers of police personnel from police station to senior officers at one place to report any violation. The complainants will get acknowledgement  and also status on the progress of the report.

Android mobile users can download through Google Play store whereas IOS device users can download through App store.
