FIRST PAKISTANI TO BECAME A LONDON MAYOR




Sadiq Aman Khan, a British Labour Party politician and he is also a Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting,and now he elected as the Mayor-elect of London since May 2016.
HE was Born in London to a working-class British Pakistani family,His late father, Amanullah Khan, worked as a bus driver for over 25 years; his mother, Sehrun, was a seamstress. Khan gained a degree in law at the University of North London. He subsequently began work as a solicitor specialising in human rights.
Khan was a councillor in the London Borough of Wandsworth from 1994 to 2006.
In 2008 he was appointed Minister of State for Communities by Prime Minister Gordon Brown,and later he had served as Transport minister for State.He joined the Shadow Cabinet of Ed Miliband as Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor in 2010.
On 11 May 2015 he resigned from the shadow cabinet to seek nomination as the Labour Party's mayoral candidate and won the candidacy on 11 September 2015.
Khan relied mainly on his solid working class roots and upbringing on a London council housing estate as strong credentials against Goldsmith’s more privileged background.
“The vile campaign run by the Tories, the way they’ve tried to smear Sadiq Khan, the methods they’ve used and the language they’ve used, has had a very big effect in exactly the way they didn’t want. So many people are just revolted by what was said about Sadiq, yesterday they came out and voted for us,” said Corbyn, in reference to the Conservative party’s attempts to link Khan with extremist views in the UK capital.
